Start on the right foot, Google Cloud Landing Zone

Start on the right foot, Google Cloud Landing Zone

A landing zone is a well-architected, multi-project environment that is scalable and secure. This is a starting point from which your organization can quickly launch and deploy workloads and applications with confidence in your security and infrastructure environment. A Landing ZOne provides an account structure, networking, security, and access management in accordance with your organization’s growth and business goals for the future.

Best practices in this area center around the need to isolate resources and workloads into multiple Google Cloud Project accounts (resource containers) for isolation and scope of impact reductions. Archie has been designed in order to guide you and enable a standard Google Cloud Organisation that will result in a successfull Cloud expansion.

Requirements

In order to create a landing zone in your Google Cloud account you will need to provide:

  • Relevant service account information
  • Region: The region where to create the landing zone components
  • Billing Account to attach to projects
  • One Network CIDR (optional)

Deployment

Archie can deploy two model of VPC for each enviroment:

  • Predefined: Will create standard and ready to use VPC with random CIDR ranges for the subents.
  • Custom: Will let youc provide your own subnets CIDR ranges.
  • Non Production: One public and one private subnet
  • Production: Three public and three private subnets

Result

Archie will deliver one VPC with relevant number of subnets for the selected environment. It wil also enable Cloud NAT and create a Cloud router. There will be a route to the internet via the Internet gateway as well as a network firewall rule for SSH and one for HTTP.

I’m an inline-style link

I’m an inline-style link with title

I’m a reference-style link

I’m a relative reference to a repository file

You can use numbers for reference-style link definitions

Or leave it empty and use the link text itself.

URLs and URLs in angle brackets will automatically get turned into links. http://www.example.com or http://www.example.com and sometimes example.com (but not on Github, for example).

Some text to show that the reference links can follow later.

Code and Syntax Highlighting

Inline code has back-ticks around it.

var s = "JavaScript syntax highlighting";
alert(s);
s = "Python syntax highlighting"
print s
No language indicated, so no syntax highlighting.
But let's throw in a <b>tag</b>.
Blockquote

This is a blockquote example.

Inline HTML

You can also use raw HTML in your Markdown, and it’ll mostly work pretty well.

Tables

Colons can be used to align columns.

Tables Are Cool
col 3 is right-aligned $1600
col 2 is centered $12
zebra stripes are neat $1

There must be at least 3 dashes separating each header cell. The outer pipes (|) are optional, and you don’t need to make the raw Markdown line up prettily. You can also use inline Markdown.

Markdown Less Pretty
Still renders nicely
